Day09-6/29/10-Tue, Fairbanks, AK

University of Alaska, Fairbanks – 0 miles

No SPOT Sat Tracking today.

We are holed up in the University of Alaska-Fairbanks dorm room waiting for a break in the weather.  Today rain, tomorrow looks good.

Today we are doing laundry, going to Walmart, testing to see if the fuel transfer problem on Jack’s bike is fixed, meeting up with a few other local rider who I met when we were here in 2008.

We have dinner with Kevin & Annie Huddy.  I was in awe of the stories they tell of camping and snowmobiling out in the wilderness using BLM/forest service cabins.  Annie and Kevin had just completed the ride to Deadhorse two weeks ago.  Hopefully we’ll see them when they ride through SoCal.

Tonight Jack and I pack to stand-ready for our first leg of the Dalton – from Fairbanks to Wiseman.

I will not have internet service tomorrow night.  Not even sure about internet service in Deadhorse?

Sounds like you’re having fun. The boys are working their butts off to get the HM2 video completed. Stay warm and dry.

Don’t forget to stop at the northern most bar in the America’s, Coldfoot, and have an Alaskan Ale. You can eat in there too.

    Have a good one!

Looks like you’re moving again after your rest & repair stop. I’m waiting for some of those fabulous scenery pics!!

You seem to be in good hands with all the help. That new shop is quite a find – storing street tires for return – outstanding! On that fuel problem, Jack probably has a fuel vent tube that exits out the bottom of the motorcycle – make sure water has not wicked up that tube and is shutting off the venting. Have a good round trip up the Dalton, I am very glad you can take the time to get a good weather window as that makes all the difference up there.
