Count Down 2 Days-11/28/2010 Santa Ana, CA

Lisa:

Well, I know it’s hard to believe but I’m speechless after reading Dean’s post. Wow. Talk about wishful thinking! I’ve traveled with Bob and lemme tell ya, the reality is a lot different than Dean’s dream, sad to say. But I simply hate to burst his bubble before we even leave Orange County so let’s keep this our little secret. But at this rate it might not matter anyway since we need about another 6 months to get ready.

Here we are, Saturday afternoon, sitting in Dean’s parking lot with the bikes in pieces and everything we plan to bring spread out like a gigantic but very sad yard sale. Oy, we better get our act together pretty quickly!

Dean:

Finally the bikes are all together and everything seems to work.  We both had an annoying buzz in our J&M CB units.  Sierra Electronics recommended to Lisa to disconnect the battery ground, there is enough ground at the antenna.  Lo and behold … it works!!  The buzz is gone.  Aux Input with iPhone for music works great and any CB communications overrides the Aux Input.

Two years in the planning it’s time to end the talk.  Tomorrow our journey begins.  Lisa and I leave SoCal to meet with Mike and Bob in McAllen Texas.  We plan to cross the border Thursday.

We’ll be watching you. Will your SPOT be on from SoCal? Be safe, have fun, report in occasionally.

Dean, Should you be anywhere near paraguay, we have family there that work at the US embassy.

  • Looking forward to following from my desktop at work – and only wish I could be there.
Post often so we can be jealous.
Tengo mis amigos y la diversion segura!

Dean I have taken short trips with Bob and had meals with him. The whining and complaining are unsurpassed.

Two other comments. That town with the South to Alaska sign (I forget the name) sells the foulest tasting health (fruit) bars on the face of the earth. And I wish you would have taken some pic of Smithers. I thought it was a great town with a Harley dealer on the main drag. I didn’t expect there to be a bike dealer in that kind of location.

Have a great trip and keep us all posted as much as possible.

  • This should be exciting and rewarding…for us to watch. What it will be for all of you can be anything. Hopefully a great adventure. Big Hugs to all of you. (Okay…maybe not Bob) and I will be following along to devour any news.

Please don’t hurt each other – remember, play nice ….. you might need that other person to change a tire or break you out of jail or something.

  • Bob Kunihiro
