PHOTOS: If you want to see the photo’s full-size, click the photo, it isolates to a new page and click it once again.  Use browser’s “back” to return to blog.
CURRENT LOCATION:  Upper right corner is my Delorme inReach Explorer satellite tracks provided by SPOTwalla.  When activated, it provides a real time track of my travels.  The tab “All-Star Motorcycle Circus & E” opens for more options.  “Adjustments” enables the viewer to select more days of the tracks.

The tracks are archived back to my arrival in Heidelberg, April 16.

Use the zoom slider on the left to open up the map to see our entire route. The two tabs in the upper right “Map/Satellite” switches the map illustration with satellite photos.

GlobeRiders has it’s own BLOG “Silk Road Adventure 2015 LiveJournal!”  There is a complete description of the excursion, rider bios, updates of the ride, and an active satellite location link.

The GlobeRiders Silk Road 2015 maintains a brisk schedule.  It’s hard to not want to be involved in all that’s planned.  There is not much time for blogging.
Today we do a walking tour of old and new Baku.  This town/nation is oil rich.  Over it’s history; the area where Azerbaijan now exists has been invaded over 20+ times.  Since it’s freedom from Russia, all the street names have been changed to reflect the Azerbaijan culture and lore.

We are at the Hilton Baku, pretty nice!

The food is wonderful.  I might not loose any weight on this trip!

This walking memorial pathway is lined with tombs of the Azerbaijan soldiers who lost their lives fighting for freedom. In the background is the famed "Flaming Towers"

The War Memorial and perpetual flame. I framed radio tower through the opening.

This unique sculpture didn't seem to fit in the war memorial area.

Flaming Towers light up a night like a LED screen promoting the upcoming European Youth Olympics.

Model of ancient catapult protecting the walled city.
