The tracks are archived back to my arrival in Heidelberg, April 16.

Use the zoom slider on the left to open up the map to see our entire route. The two tabs in the upper right “Map/Satellite” switches the map illustration with satellite photos.

Day 2 on the road.  It will be a warm, sunny day.  Breakfast at 7, Most of us were loading bikes at 5:30AM.

Entire day was sunny and warm.

Had my first Strompapotomus Nap!

Coming down some normal twisties, I was in an outside left-hand turn and got into gravel and ended up in a leafy ditch doing 15 mph.  No damage except slight tweak in Jesse Bag frame.  4 riders behind me helped me out.

Photo:

Gravity is not your friend. Took a corner too wide and the front washed out. The bike low-sided and I stepped off doing 15mph.

Keeping with the Silk Road theme, tonight’s lodging is in a historic “caravanserai or caravansary”.  There were roadside inns (built like forts) where Silk Road travelers and caravans could rest and recover from a day’s journey.  These were spaced every 10-15 miles.  The Cinci Han was originally built in 1645.

Caravans would enter through this gate.

Motos in the ancient camel holding pens, just outside our hotel doors.

Cappadocia – Whirling Dervish

Another historic “caravanserai or caravansary”. This one housed the Whirling Dervish worshipers.

The huge doors allowed camel caravans to enter the Caravanserai.

Big plaza to hold camels and other livestock.

It’s getting harder to find time to blog.  We have many options to keep us busy besides riding the 11,000 miles from Germany to China.
