Geocaching & Lighthouses

Tue-May 22, 2012
Location: Riga, Latvia to Narva Estonia

Lodging: Central Hotel, Narva

Euro: €1 = $1.33 USD, $1 USD = €0.75

Gas/Fuel in ?

Weather: Cloudy in the early AM, clear blue skies rest of the day

Martin is a geocacher.  We followed him to some very interesting location along our route to St Petersburg.

Martin is looking for a geocache at this historic trolly station in Estonia.

Geocache in a stone sculpture park in Estonia.

Martin finding a geocache in a tree stump!

Another geocache in a historic swim trailer.

Lighthouse hunting took us off the beaten path.  Rode in dirt/gravel for a couple km.

To get off the beaten road we went lighthouse searching. This one is not that old but it was destroyed.

At the hotel I did a chain clean, inspection and lubed with silicon spray.  The Scott Oiler is doing its job of keeping the chain lubricated in all the rain a week ago.
Tomorrow our first real border crossing – Estonia into Russia.

    Hi Dean,

Great adventure so far – amazing -your spirit is inspiring for sure!

I was not aware of geocaching so I looked it up – http://www.factsfacts.com/geocacher.htm

The part I found interesting is the following quote “the real fun is discovering endless new parks and interesting places near you that you never knew were there. It’s absolutely astounding how many interesting places there are near you that you’re probably unaware of. If you resist the temptation to make this a contest and just have fun and enjoy the places it takes you, it will be a more rewarding activity”….I like that – it looks like you definitely ended up in some places you would not have gone -like the rock sculpture park, etc. – very cool.

    Keep on truckin’ brother.
